What a selected-area capture does

01

You select the area, the rest is dimmed

After the hotkey the screen dims, you drag over the fragment you need and only that ends up in the frame. Nothing extra to cut out later.

02

Pixel size while you select

The width and height of the area show next to the frame. Need an exact square — hold Shift. Enter accepts the selection, Esc cancels it.

03

Straight into the editor and a link

The area screenshot opens in the editor: arrows, text, numbering, blur. Then a file on disk or a link to the capture in your clipboard.

Area screenshot FAQ

How do I screenshot a part of the screen instead of all of it?
Press Ctrl+Shift+A (⌘⇧A on Mac) or the extension button, drag over the area you need and release the mouse. Only the selection is in the capture.
Is there a selected-area screenshot tool for Windows and Mac?
Yes: the extension for Chrome, Opera and Firefox captures an area of the tab, and the apps for Windows and macOS capture any part of the screen, other windows included.
How do I select an area precisely, down to the pixel?
While selecting, the width and height in pixels show next to the frame. Shift constrains the area to a square, Enter accepts the selection, Esc or the right mouse button cancels.
What happens if I click without dragging?
A click without a drag captures the whole visible part of the page. The hotkeys also capture a window or the full page with scrolling.
Can I crop an area capture after taking it?
Yes, the editor has crop. Capture with some margin, trim it to what you need and add an arrow or blur.
Is it free?
Yes. Area capture, the editor and the screenshot link are free, with no sign-up.
